A lot has happened lately in my artistic journey:
I’ve just launched three new websites — one about me as an artist, one dedicated to my project “Streets of Chicago”, and one for my upcoming book “Stand Out, Get Seen, and Sell More Art.”
I’m also thrilled to announce that I’ll be part of two international group exhibitions, one in Munich and another in Rome.
Even more exciting: my book is finished!
After months of writing, “Stand Out, Get Seen, and Sell More Art” is ready, and I’m now working on publishing it.
And finally, I want to share with you two important insights I brought back from my recent trip to Japan—both of which are already shaping how I approach my art.
Enjoy this issue, and let’s stay connected.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
My New Homepage darkopavic.art
I have to admit—it wasn’t easy to create. Not because of the technical side (I’m comfortable with that), but because of the content. I wasn’t sure what to focus on.
I know that what I write and how I present myself shapes how others see me. And that made it hard.
When I finally finished the first version, it was full of content… but something didn’t feel right. The person I was presenting wasn’t truly me. It was me—but not the version that shows what truly drives me.
So I decided to strip it down and start over.
I removed many artworks and focused on a few meaningful projects that actually reflect who I am and why I create. I also chose to share the real story behind my art—and the real reasons why I’m doing it the way I do now.
If you read it, I think it’ll be clear.
Have a look. I’d really appreciate your thoughts and feedback.
"Streets of Chicago" at Exhibitions in Rome and Munich 🎉
Exciting news!
My art project "Streets of Chicago" will be featured in two upcoming exhibitions, one in Rome, Italy, and another in Munich, Germany.
This series explores a thought-provoking question:
Can AI imagine?
I gave the AI open-ended prompts, leaving space for interpretation, emotion, and fantasy and asked it to show me how it sees life on the streets of Chicago.
The results? Astonishing.
And these exhibitions are a great opportunity to experience the project in person.
📍 Munich, Germany
One of the artworks has been selected as a Top 50 finalist at the SPC Photo Awards by Swiss Photo Club. All selected works will be exhibited at Kunstlabor 2 from April 26 – May 3, 2025.
Visitors will vote on the artworks, and the winner will be chosen based on those votes.

📍 Rome, Italy
Titled "Scenes from Real Life", this exhibition is hosted by LoosenArt Gallery and will take place May 13 – 23, 2025.
It may sound paradoxical to show “real life” scenes created by AI—but that’s the whole point: How does AI perceive our reality?

If you happen to be in Rome or Munich during those dates, stop by—and if you do, please take a photo and send it to me. I’d love to see it through your eyes. 👀
And of course, I’d love to hear what you think.
🎨 New Blog Post: "Is AI Photography Still Photography? And Is It Still Art?"
What happens when photography is created by something that doesn’t hold a camera—something that doesn’t even have eyes?
In my latest blog post, I dive deep into one of the most controversial questions in the art world today:
Can AI-generated images be considered photography—and is it really art?
Based on my recent series "Streets of Chicago", I explore the blurred boundaries between traditional photography, imagination, and AI co-creation.
You might be surprised by the conclusion I came to.

What I Learned from My Visit to Japan
At the end of March, I spent a few weeks in Japan—and it gave me two profound insights that will deeply influence my artistic journey.
The first is about space.
Studying Japan’s history and traditional architecture, I was struck by how deliberately space is used—not just physically, but psychologically. In Japanese culture, space is not simply a background; it’s an active force. For example, when a Shogun received a visitor, the meeting room was carefully chosen based on the visitor’s status. The room itself—its emptiness, artwork, atmosphere—was a statement.
In the West, we often fear empty space. In Japan, it’s embraced as a powerful element of expression. That realization opened a new dimension for me: to explore minimalism and negative space in my own work. Sometimes, less truly says more.
The second insight came during a traditional calligraphy session with the incredible Sensei Atsushi Miyazaki.
He showed me the power of a single line. But drawing a perfect line requires more than skill—it demands inner balance. Tranquility. Stillness.
And that’s when I realized: I wasn’t balanced.
It was surprisingly hard for me to follow the traditional Japanese rhythm of line and breath. But in that struggle, I discovered something important: I need to bring more stillness into my life. More meditation. More presence.
And that will shape not only how I create art—but how I live.
